Ecotherapy & Nature Connection

I work in private practise offering nature-based one-to-one and group ecotherapy for health and wellbeing, wholeness, healing and growth as well as sessions that focus on transpersonal experience. These sessions can take place in-person out in the land, online or a mixture of both.

My approach applies ecopsychological theory with a variety of eco-therapeutic activities and interventions such as mindfulness, guided meditation, movement and creative exploration as well as therapeutic dialogue in natural settings, such as forests, parks, gardens, and urban green spaces. It can be adapted for indoor environments but some aspects usually take place outside.

This way of working is rooted in the belief that humans are nature and not separate, and that a sense of connection with the natural world is vital for optimal wholistic health. It aims to reduce stress, increase feelings of wellbeing and promote personal healing and growth, as well as generate more care for ourselves, others and for the natural world.

The origins of the term ‘ecotherapy’ can be translated to ‘healing dwelling place’.

When we consider that we each dwell within our own psyches and bodies, within our social communities, and within our ecological home of earth and the wider universe, we can understand ecotherapy as the work of healing our many dwelling places - it is systemic, interconnected and wholistic.

Safe & Ethical Practice

Throughout this process I am supported to offer safe and ethical practice through professional and peer supervision. I also engage in my own personal therapy and participate in on-going additional professional trainings to support my role as a facilitator and ecotherapist. I am DBS checked, fully insured and hold an outdoor first aid certificate. All sensitive information is handled with utmost respect and care for privacy.

I am dedicated to following leave-no-trace principles when out on the land, and always aim to leave a place better than I found it, by picking up litter and engaging in ecocentric behaviour, remaining sensitive to the needs of all of nature within the spaces in which I work.
